Job Description:

The Tree Farm Support Team Lead will support World Tree’s Operations Department team by leading the team tasked with visiting privately owned Paulownia tree farms throughout the United States. This is a superb opportunity to further a career in forestry with our innovative, expanding company.

The motivated, energetic person in this role will participate in and coordinate team support and tree data collection activities, manage botanical and genetic research projects, and lead meetings and field tours.

Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Leading team meetings (virtually and occasionally in person) and keeping in routine communications with Tree Farmer Success team members

• Individually supporting tree farmers with phone calls, emails and onsite visits

• Evaluating tree performance including supporting the inventory data collection (survival rates, mortality, DBH, tree heights, biomass accumulation, carbon sequestration rates, and more)

• Utilizing forest measurement software, grading scales and field data recording instruments

• Tracking tree farmer performance grading

• Effectively interacting with private landowners

• Managing genetic strain tracking and botanical sampling projects

• Coordinating and leading field tours designed to educate our tree farming partners

• Following applicable World Tree Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) and safety policies

• Updating and monitoring World Tree's quality standards for trees produced in the nursery and delivered to farm owners

Qualifications:

Required Skills/Abilities:

• 2-5 years experience in Forest Management

• BS in Forestry or related field from an SAF accredited university

• Keen understanding of hardwood tree physiology

• Experience with GIS, data collection methods and statistical analysis

• Excellent communication skills and an outgoing personality

• Good condition car with insurance, valid driver’s license and ability to drive over long periods of time; 4-wheel SUV or pickup truck preferred

• Ability to stand/walk outside in hot and cold weather for extended periods of time

• Knowledge of and ability to use technology such as GPS devices

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office

• Operate independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

• An understanding of forest soil

• Excellent leadership and public speaking skills
