The Timber Optimization Analyst has responsibility to support initiatives with the goal of building a world-class timber marketing optimization program at Rayonier. This team member will focus on developing services to meet internal customer needs for optimization of operational and tactical timber marketing plans and cost/revenue analyses related to Rayonier’s timber marketing efforts. Keys to success will be through a combination of customer focus, application of technical/professional knowledge and managing work and time in a way that is efficient and enhances Rayonier’s ability to identify, differentiate and apply value creation strategies.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Develop, maintain and enhance the use and application of optimization platforms to best position Rayonier to make strategic, tactical, and operational timber-marketing decisions
  • Perform optimization analyses using Remsoft Woodstock Scheduler to support Resource Unit timber marketing plans
  • Maintain and develop reporting functionality using Power BI reports and Microsoft Excel add-ins to communicate optimization results to stakeholders
  • Assist in the development and management of data flows into and out of Rayonier planning systems and model SQL Server datamart
  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiency of and user engagement with optimization platforms
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders in the development and implementation of related tools for timber optimization and marketing
  • Provide and support training of optimization tools to internal stakeholders across the US Forest Resources team 

 

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, Data Science or equivalent experience.
  • Three (3) years in forest and/or natural resource management, financial analysis, timberland valuation or related field.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills judgement and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently through self-initiative and collaboration with wider team and customers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in Forest planning, complex financial and economic analyses, project and data management, vendor management, written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with standard business software (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Familiarity with basic SQL server database data management.
  • Experience with Remsoft forest planning software (Woodstock Scheduler, etc.) is preferred. PowerBI experience is a plus.
