Job Description:

The Smithsonian Institution is hiring a Research Ecologist to join the Migratory Bird Center, part of the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute in Washington, DC. We seek applicants with demonstrated experience: (1) implementing and leading ecological field research on migratory birds; (2) publishing lead-authored papers that use or develop quantitative methods to answer questions about wildlife population ecology; (3) applying advanced statistical methods to understand wildlife population dynamics and/or habitat associations; (4) obtaining extramural funding for research on wildlife ecology; (5) training students in wildlife ecology and presenting talks about avian ecology at a national or international conferences. The position is open to all U.S. Citizens or U.S. Nationals. 

Qualifications:

 1 year of specialized experience (as described above) equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Service OR a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

Salary:
GS-12 (starting at $99,200)
