Job Description:

Responsible for daily exhibit and animal care operations, including ongoing management and daily care for live reptiles and amphibians. Includes management of venomous snakes.

Manages both marine and freshwater aquariums, including plumbing, pumps, lighting, and water testing.

Cleans/maintains cages, enclosures, and aquariums on daily basis.

Provides routine medical care to animal collection and maintains related health records, including state and federal permits for collection and exhibition.

Trains and oversees animal care volunteers and exhibit interpreters.

Maintains and implements routine maintenance/improvements to facility exhibits including graphics, audio/visual media and a digital planetarium system.

Assists with program and exhibit development and implementation as needed.

Assists with the planning, developing and evaluating of programs and special events for all age groups in the community.

This position would be the glue between the programs in exhibition/education areas and the public of ACC in that they would assist the department with an outreach calendar, graphic design and all promotion.

Recommends programming to meet community needs.

Maintains and processes records, and updates reports, flyers, publications and promotional materials for programs and the facility.

Instructs classes and/or conducts programs where necessary.

Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment and requisitions supplies for activities and events.

Assists with the coordination of volunteer needs, recruitment, training and recognition at assigned facility.

Prepares facility for programs and special events. Inspects and monitors facility buildings and grounds, and performs routine building maintenance as needed.

Would assist all the staff in the large public events and would contribute to the management of the physical plant as needed.

Assists with the management of daily operations of the facility and short and long-range program planning.

Would manage all social media, e-newsletters, memberships. Would be at the front desk as needed as well as fill in for full time staff during lunch hour.

Performs research for special projects, staff, and the general public.

Researches the needs for outreach and public relations.

Assists with website updates as needed. Transports participants to and from activities.

Assists with the enforcement of facility rules and regulations.

Serves as community resource person in programming and special events.

Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

High school diploma with one year of recreational programming or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Must possess a valid driver's license.

Must be certified in First Aid/CPR or have ability to attain within 6 months of employment.

Supervisory experience is preferred.

Miscellaneous:

Work Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 8:30 am-5:30 pm, includes some weekend, night, and holiday work with notice.

May be required to work on religious holidays.

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Must work cooperatively with others.

When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.
