This position is located in the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), West Coast Region Office (WCR) with eight vacancies in Arcata, CA, Long Beach, CA, Sacramento, CA, Santa Rosa, CA, Seattle, WA, Lacey, WA, Santa Cruz, CA, or Portland, OR.
Job Description:
  • Collaborate in-person or virtually with external Federal, State, local agencies, and tribes in the management and/or recovery of identified NOAA trust species and habitat.
  • Analyze the effects of actions on marine and aquatic species/habitats to ensure compliance with appropriate statutes (ESA, MSA, MMPA, and NEPA).
  • Produce documents and processes that are scientifically sound and legally defensible.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license to operate a government vehicle in completion of assigned tasks.
  • The position requires occasional travel on behalf of the agency to attend meetings with external and internal partners. Will travel to work sites to evaluate projects and the effects of various actions on trust species and habitats. Work sites could be remotely located and could require the use of a small boat or all-terrain vehicle for access. This position requires occasional travel to research sites.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience OR substitution of education for experience OR combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified.
