Job Description:

The Tree Farm Support Intern will support World Tree’s Operations Department on the Tree Farmer Success team by visiting privately owned Paulownia tree farms throughout the Southeast United States. This is a superb opportunity to begin or further a career in forestry with our innovative, expanding company. 

 

The motivated, energetic person in this role will record pertinent tree data using state-of-the-art software and will learn how World Tree provides technical support to farmers in tree management. The individual will also see how we advise and grade our growers on a series of assessment areas.

 

Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Evaluating tree performance including data collection (survival rates, mortality, 

DBH, tree heights, biomass accumulation, carbon sequestration rates and 

more)

• Utilizing forest measurement software, grading scales and field data recording 

instruments

• Effectively interacting with private landowners

• Participating in special projects and workstreams as needed to help the 

Operations Department efficiently accomplish key tasks and company goals

• Following applicable World Tree Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) and 

safety policies

• Attending team meetings (virtually and occasionally in person) and keeping in 

routine communications with Tree Farmer Success team supervisor

• Monitoring World Tree's quality standards for trees produced in the nursery 

and delivered to farm owners

 

 

 

Qualifications:

BS in Forestry or related field from an SAF accredited university or expected 

graduation date in early to mid-2023 or earlier

• Exposure to GIS, data collection methods and statistical analysis

• Excellent communication skills and an outgoing personality

• A car with insurance, valid driver’s license and ability to drive over long periods 

of time

• Ability to stand/walk outside in hot and cold weather for extended periods of 

time

• Knowledge of and ability to use technology such as GPS devices 

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel

• Operate independently with minimal supervision

$2500/month
