Job Description:

This Internship will focus on assisting the Hunting Heritage Center with a variety of tasks related to conservation, wildlife, and education.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist with wildlife surveys and assessments

• Assist with prescribed burning, herbicide applications, equipment maintenance, road maintenance and other habitat management activities as needed

• Assist with forestry and food plot management activities

• Assist with landowner and learn to hunt seminars and clinics

• Assist with youth summer day camps

• Assist with various conservation learning events

• Other land management and event coordination duties as needed

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Have a career interest in forestry, wildlife, natural resources, education, outdoor recreation, and/or teaching

• Ability to work in an outdoor environment, under a variety of conditions

• Able to travel

• Good communication skills, written and verbal

• Good computer skills

• Valid Driver’s license

• Ability to operate tractor with implements and ATV

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working or volunteering with a wildlife organization

• Enrolled in a natural resource degree program

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be willing and able to work in outdoor conditions

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds

• Must be able to sit, bend or stand for long period of times

• Must be able to operate farm machinery, trucks, ATVs, UTVs, and occasionally watercraft
