Job Description:

The Parks and Recreation Management program in the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment at Auburn University is seeking qualified candidates committed to pursuing a Master of Science in Natural Resources Management (M.S.), starting fall semester of 2024. The GRA, working under the direction of Dr. Michael Brunson, will be involved in understanding, and evaluating visitor and recreational use and user group types in Alabama State Parks (e.g. hiking, camping, mountain biking, ORV). The candidate can expect site visits and fieldwork throughout the course of the project. Data collected from this project will provide park managers with valuable information on various user groups that frequent state park sites to help inform decision making and enhance visitor experience.

Qualifications:

Candidate must have completed a BS degree (or equivalent) prior to starting, preferably in a Parks, Recreation, and/or Tourism Management, Human Dimensions of Natural Resource Management, or similar program. Interested applicants should have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Prior experience in quantitative research methods and analysis, scientific writing, social science statistical applications, and experience working with/for land management agencies is highly desirable

Salary:
$20,000/year plus tuition waiver (excluding fees).
