Job Description:

The Forest Health and Sustainability Unit is the largest unit with the Division and contains the forest health, water quality, urban forest management, rural forest management, landowner assistance programs, and the Strike Teams. This position oversees several program specialists and foresters who manage these programs state or region wide.

Specific Job Duties:

PLANNING

1. Ensures all program activities support the State Forester’s priorities, the Division’s strategic and operational plans and the Forest Action Plan.

2. Annually analyzes programmatic operations and executes proactive and responsive strategies that meet Department, Division and resource needs.

3. Manages all programs under a holistic approach, actively identifying opportunities for growth and working with the team to capitalize on those opportunities.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION

1. Actively develops and maintains working partnerships with other state and federal agencies, non-profit organizations and various conservation groups.

2. Serves as the Division’s forest management chief on regional and statewide initiatives.

3. Ensures Division forest health and management programs are relevant on a regionwide basis.

FISCAL ADMINISTRATION

1. Manages a multitude of state and federal grants that fund the various programs within the unit.

2. Actively seeks and secures additional funding and revenue.

3. Provides monthly, quarterly and fiscal reports to the Assistant State Forester to aid in developing division budgets.

SUPERVISON

1. Develops annual Individual Performance Plans and conducts interim and annual reviews for full time personnel.

2. Develops employees and provides guidance for professional growth.

3. Provides guidance for the establishment and management of various seasonal strike teams.

Salary:
Salary: $3,896-$6,233/month
