We are looking for an experienced Forest Resources Planning Analyst to join our team. While relocating to our Headquarters in Tuscaloosa, Alabama is preferred (assistance provided), remote work arrangements will also be considered. The Forest Resource Planning Analyst will focus on improving the current forest land base through strategic land transactions as well as management of timber on existing lands.

Scope:

• Support valuation modeling for disposals (including HBU analyses) and acquisitions

• Aid in operational harvest scheduling for forest management purposes

• Manage external resources to aid in scheduling and valuation projects

• Support spatial data management and sharing for improved decision-making 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

-Clearly communicate and gather needed inputs for harvest scheduling and valuation modeling

-Provide discounted cash flow and other financial analysis and modeling to evaluate and support forest management decisions and land transactions

-Provide direct support to forest managers for tactical planning to ensure harvest scheduling, budgeting, and harvest plan execution decision support is timely and accurate

-Support TWC's conformance with certification requirements and support management systems that enable the advancement of TWC's forest stewardship efforts

-Aid in managing and sharing Geographic Information Systems (GIS)-based spatial forest data and communicating data attributes and usage to users

-Continuously improve processes and provide training and support to ensure the effective deployment and use of forest management data and tools

-Special projects as requested

 

 

Qualifications:

A degree in forestry or a related field from a SAF accredited forestry program. Master's degree preferred.

Three – four years of related work experience.

Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Proficient writing skills to prepare professional reports.

Ability to work well in teams and communicate effectively.

Knowledge of GIS, silviculture, forest mensuration, timberland appraisal, growth and yield models, timber supply and demand modeling and forestry operations preferred.
