Ideally, this position would be based in Wisconsin, but flexibility on location may be possible for the right candidate. Travel will be required depending upon the nature and location of projects. This is considered an established professional position, requiring previous inventory management, forestry, analysis, and GIS experience or applicable education.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The position would serve as a key member of the Steigerwaldt Analysis and Technology Solutions department, a team that provides a variety of real estate, natural resource, and forestry-related analysis, inventory, data management, and mapping and technical solutions services to internal and external clients.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Project management with a strong focus on logistics, field operations, and execution

Preparation, planning, and leadership of in and out of state inventory projects

Data review, data quality assurance and quality control (QAQC), plot production, and inventory field auditing

Assists with project proposals, scheduling, organization, and budgeting

Assists or leads with client communications

Drafts inventory written materials and assists with training

Forest carbon inventory management, logistics, and client communications

Other duties as assigned

Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry or related Forest Sciences.

Minimum of two years of experience in forest inventory and analysis.

Inventory and project leadership experience involving managing logistics, production, and data quality.

Experience with forest inventory and GPS navigation software and hardware.

Experience with ESRI ArcMap 10.x GIS, AGOL and ArcGIS Pro software, and other GIS platforms.

Experience using Microsoft Excel and Access.

Eastern hardwood forest management and silviculture experience.

Interest in forest carbon services.

Willingness to complete field work in all weather conditions and commit time to office work.

Ability to travel and assist with out-of-state forest inventories in remote locations up to ±25 percent of the time. Traveling has opened our team up to exciting locations and experiences.

Ability to communicate verbally and in written form with management, support staff, and clients.

Ability to maintain a high level of work and project organization.

Current valid driver’s license with personal vehicle suitable for forestry work (mileage is reimbursed)

ATV and snowmobile certifications

A team player who is confident, respectful, curious, flexible, and able to work with other professionals in a growing, successful, and respected business

WORK ENVIRONMENT

At Steigerwaldt, we offer a Remote-Friendly Hybrid Work Model for our staff. Due to the nature of this role, the Forest Inventory Manager position is remote-friendly and does not need to work full time from our offices. Candidates located in Wisconsin or Midwest are preferred. The position is estimated to be roughly 40 percent field work and 60 percent office work but this can vary over periods of time dependent upon the nature of the work secured.

COMPENSATION

Salary commensurate with experience

POSTING DATE

February 27, 2024. Position will be filled within one to three months. Interviews will be scheduled throughout this time period. Expected start is dependent upon candidate availability. There is flexibility in the start date.

Salary:
$52,936 to $79,414.40
