Job Description:

We are actively hiring for an Analyst role on our Forest Carbon team.

 

NativState is seeking a motivated team player who is ready to expand their impact and to apply their talents to a growing company.

As a Forest Carbon Analyst, you will work with our forest carbon specialists, engineers, and program managers to assess, develop, and prepare for the verification of high-quality carbon credits. You will be a critical member of the team developing high-quality carbon credits for our buyers and thereby returning significant value to our landowner partners.

 

Primary Responsibilities and Competencies:

• Use a full range of spatial(GIS), database, spreadsheet, software manipulations, and other tools to process, calculate, analyze, and digest raw and finalized forest carbon data

• Utilize forest growth and yield models for the development of forest carbon programs through biometric principles and knowledge of common silvicultural management practices to generate representative long-term projections of forest carbon

• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to conduct diverse quantitative and spatial analyses essential at each phase of carbon project development

• Advance and develop processes and procedures to support project verification

• Assist in the preparation of project data reports and verification documentation

• Travel occasionally and when necessary to project sites, team training meetings, and /or

conferences

 

 

Qualifications:

Required Education, Experience and Certification:

• University degree, certification or work experience in forestry or earth sciences

• Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel

• Experience in forest biometrics and statistical analysis

• Experience using the USFS Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS)

• Experience with forest inventories, sample plot design, forest management plans, and Timber harvest plans

• Experience in application of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) programs (e.g., ArcGIS Pro software)

 

 

Preferred Skills, Education, Qualifications & Experience:

• Master’s degree in forestry, natural resources, or related subjects

• 2+ years of experience in a forestry-related occupation, preferably working with forest carbon modeling activities

• Strong statistical and analytical skills including experience in using programming languages such as R, Python, and SQL

• Experience with voluntary forest carbon protocols in North America, especially the American Carbon Registry’s (ACR) methodologies for Improved Forest Management (IFM)

• Strong quantitative and spatial analysis skills including experience in the application of remote sensing in forestry

• Familiarity with silvicultural and forest management practices of Southern US

• Ability to build and cultivate strong and positive relationships with internal and external

stakeholders
