Job Description:

Collect groundwater quality samples throughout the statewide monitoring well network. This includes but is not limited to planning and preparation for field sampling, sample collection, sample delivery, and assisting with well redevelopment and maintenance.

 

Conduct analysis of Groundwater Management Branch databases, as well as, federal and other state databases to increase efficiency and quality control of sampling events.

 

Review and update SOPs (standard operating procedures) and other supporting guidance materials as needed.

 

Update and/or develop standardized data cleaning and formatting procedures; assist with integrating data into DWR databases and making data publicly available.

 

Conduct geospatial analysis of groundwater quality data. Develop GIS datasets and other GIS products.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

 

Ability to apply the basic environmental concepts, practices, and theories involved in the design, development, review, permitting, and/or operations of projects/sites and their potential environmental and safety impacts.

Ability to analyze, manipulate and evaluate information/data, including the use of software.

Ability to formulate or assist in the development of management alternatives and recommendations.

Ability to organize and direct moderately complex research or field studies.

Ability to prepare written/verbal reports; and ability to work with considerable independence.

Valid driver's license.

Salary:
$44,588 - $47,927
