Job Description:

This is an entry-level position with a consulting engineering firm and does not require previous experience, although that is helpful. Works under close supervision; receives specific and detailed instructions about assignments. Performs a variety of routine tasks which are intended to provide experience and interaction with higher-level staff, methods, practices, programs, and culture of the corporation. For training and development purposes, assignments may include some work that is typical of an Environmental Scientist II. This position will be responsible for helping facilities maintain compliance with environmental regulations and their monitoring requirements

 

Job Duties to include (not exclusively):

 

1. Assist Environmental Scientist II or higher with environmental compliance.

2. Locating, researching and disseminating current information for environmental regulations for states and municipalities in the southeast.

3. Permit application support and writing for various types of environmental sites in the southeast.

4. Responsible for regulatory coordination and meetings on projects in process.

5. Assist with document review of various groundwater, surface water, methane, leachate, air, NPDES monitoring/compliance data and statistical analysis reports if needed.

6. Permit application review and quality control for internal HHNT work within your discipline and regulatory review file review.

7. Some travel in the Southeastern US and work out of other HHNT offices should be expected.

8. Support and perform field work and support wetlands studies, delineation, threatened and endangered species studies, etc.

9. Responsible for report writing including jurisdictional determination request (JDR), threatened and endangered species assessments, etc.

10. Assist and write Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SP3) and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plans (SPCC) for various sites in the Southeast.

11. Minimum requirement of 2,080 hours (direct/billable and indirect) worked for the company per year. We anticipate approximately 90% of time will be direct/billable and 10% of the time would be business development/general.

12. Preparation of GIS figures as needed.

13. Pursue and obtain your Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) and/or other Environmental Certifications.

14. Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree or higher from a college or university in Environmental Science or similar program.
