Why did you choose your Warnell major?

When I was in fourth grade, my family and I took a two-month road trip out west and visited some of the natural wonders of our beautiful country. One of the sights we saw was the Grand Canyon in Arizona. While visiting, my father and I were fortunate enough to take a one-hour mule ride around the Kaibab Forest and the Grand Canyon’s Outer Rim. On the trail ride, we saw a wide variety of wildlife that I had never seen before; to name a few: mule deer, elk, bobcats, pronghorn, black-tail jackrabbits, and more. This exposure to this unknown side of nature that I had never seen before made me very curious as to what else was out there and led me to dive deeper. I frequently read books and wrote essays on many different wildlife species and wildlife conservation throughout my elementary, middle, and high school years but always seemed to love to learn about white-tailed deer the most. Hearing from friends about being able to major in wildlife at UGA through Warnell combined with the kindness and welcoming attitude of the staff and ambassadors made me realize without a doubt that Warnell was going to be my future home.
