Job Description:

Nelson Environmental Inc., an environmental consulting firm located in the Greater Atlanta Georgia area is seeking a Biologist with a minimum of 1 to 2 years experience to join its team to provide technical expertise and services associated with wetland delineation, stream surveys, preparation of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act permit applications, permit applications for Georgia Stream Buffer Variances, environmental monitoring reports for mitigation sites, and related activities. Most of this work will be in the North Georgia area. The Biologist will partner with existing staff to assist a variety of client types with but not limited to obtaining land use and building development permits, while ensuring that all federal, state, and local environmental regulations are adhered to. Salary will commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities of the Biologist may include, but are not limited to:

  •   Project management, including all aspects of permitting a project from inception to permit issuance and project completion.

  •   Preparation of wetland delineation reports, functional assessments, mitigation plans, and environmental compliance/permitting documents.

  •   Stream, wetland and wildlife habitat assessments

  •   Monitoring, wetland and stream projects.

Qualifications:
  1. Requirements:

    •   Bachelor’s degree in Wetland Science, Biology Natural Resource Management, or a related field.

    •   Minimum 1 to 2 years experience performing similar duties.

    •   Excellent technical writing skills and experience preparing documents for multi-agency

      review.

    •   Experience using a compass for navigation while on project sites.

    •   Good physical condition and ability to walk on uneven terrain for long periods of time.

    •   Willingness to travel and complete field work for projects.

    •   Workload management skills.

    •   Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    •   Illustrate initiative and resourcefulness.
