Job Description:

The Forestry Management Technologies Department of Horry Georgetown Technical College is seeking applications for an Associate Professor, Forestry. Applicants should be passionate about natural resources management, with work experience in natural resources (wildlife, wetlands, soils) and forestry. The successful candidate will have expertise in both traditional and innovative natural resource measurement techniques and forest inventory strategies. 

This position is for a 9-month full-time faculty position with the option of 3-month summer contract beginning August 2022. The successful candidate will support our SAF-accredited forestry program by contributing to existing courses such as Dendrology, Wildlife Management and Techniques, Forest Ecology, Timber Harvesting, Silviculture, Forest Management, GIS and Remote Sensing. There are opportunities to collaborate with federal and state agencies, industry, and private landowners/managers which enhance students’ education and graduate placement. Additional responsibilities include advising students, serving on college committees, and participating in recruitment and orientation efforts on behalf of the department and the college.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Forestry or closely related natural resource field. Preferred: Master's degree in Forestry or closely related natural resource field with professional and/or teaching experience; excellent writing and effective communication skills; teaching experience.
