The Upper Oconee Watershed Network (UOWN) is seeking an unpaid intern to assist the organization with maintaining its presence on social and web media. UOWN maintains a presence on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and the World Wide Web.

Duties include:

• Update UOWN social media pages before and during UOWN events. UOWN has an event approximately every month.

• Assist with the maintenance of UOWN and Upper Oconee Water Trails (a subcommittee of UOWN) websites.

• Attend monthly UOWN board of directors meetings.

• Attend quarterly Outreach Committee meetings.


The ideal candidate will be a third/fourth year student or graduate student with interest in environmental or public health policy. Must have excellent organizational and time management skills. Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Google Drive required. Familiarity with WordPress desired. Must have a computer. Intern will report to a member of the UOWN board of directors. This is an unpaid internship position. It is estimated that the internship will require an average of 3-4 hours of activity, including meetings, a week.


The Upper Oconee Watershed Network is a 501(c)3 certified nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting water resources and improving stream health in the Upper Oconee Watershed through community-based advocacy, water quality monitoring, education, and recreation. UOWN maintains the only comprehensive data set regarding water quality in the Upper Oconee Watershed.
