Undergraduate Academic Advising

All students in the Warnell School must be advised on their academic program each semester in order to register for the following semester. Students are advised during fall semester for spring and summer registration and during spring semester for fall registration. Students entering UGA are advised during orientation for their first term of enrollment.

Pre-professional and professional students may view their current programs of study in DegreeWorks.  UGA offers tutorials and a FAQ on using DegreeWorks.  Students who have noticed any issues with their DegreeWorks audit, or students who have questions about it, should please contact Matthew Head (see sidebar).

Pre-Professional Student Advising

The student & career services coordinator advises students in the pre-professional program. The student and career services coordinator's job is to help students to stay on track for entering the Warnell professional program and for completing all graduation requirements.

Current Warnell pre-professional students may make an advising appointment via the SAGE system.

Professional Student Advising

Once a student enters the professional program, they are assigned a faculty mentor based on their area of interest. Each fall or spring term professional students must be cleared first through the staff advisor (Matt Head) in one of two ways:

Students must then meet with their faculty mentor, who will help with major elective selection and will provide career advice. Once the student has been cleared first through the staff advisor and then through the faculty mentor, they will be cleared to register.

The ideal time for advisement in both the pre-professional and professional programs is between the third week of the semester and the midpoint. Students must be advised for each term for which they intend to register
