The Technical Forester will work collaboratively  with the Resource Unit Team (local team) and Land Information Services Team to collect mid and late rotation inventory data and conduct post planting measurements. Coordinate and work with consultants performing additional cruising and inventory, and responsible for audit work as necessary.  Assist the Resource Unit with other contract compliance activities as needed. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform Resource Unit inventory, seedling survival and post thin measurements.
  • Assist the Resource Unit’s Land Management team with silvicultural activities as needed.
  • Assist the Resource Unit's Timber Production team with contract compliance activities as needed.
  • Assist with the coordination and auditing of contract cruising in the Resource Unit.
  • Collaborate with Land Information Services team.
  • Contributes to overall Resource Unit team performance.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for company personnel, contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Assist the Resource Unit's Engineering team with harvest layout activities as needed.
Qualifications:
  • BS Degree in Forestry or technical degree in forestry with equivalent forestry exposure to timber cruising/forest inventory
  • Must have an understanding of State BMP’s and SFI principles, GIS and forest inventory measurement methods
