Job Description:

This is a professional position with responsibility for providing assistance to the Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (GBNERR). The position will include responsibilities  relating to the System-wide Monitoring Program (SWMP) at eh Reserve including collection of water quality sample, deployment and collection of data loggers, cleaning of loggers and changing of probes, use and maintenance of hand-held water quality instruments, nutrient and chlorophyll sampling and analysis, documentation on standardized forms, weather station maintenance, and other tasks as needed. Duties also include data management, boat operation, cleaning and maintenance of sampling and lab equipment, field assistance with other ongoing Reserve projects.  Activities will be closely coordinated with the GBNERR, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and other partners, consistent with the goals and objectives of the Reserve, Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, and NOAA.


Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in biology, marine science, land use planning, coastal management, environmental policy, botany, geology, geography, ecology, environmental education, forestry, wildlife management/biology, or a related field.

Above graduation from a standard four-year college or university, related education, and related experience may be substituted on an equal  basis.

$27,780.92 Annual starting salary
