NC Wildlife Resources Commission Mission Statement:
To conserve North Carolina's wildlife resources and their habitats and provide programs and opportunities that allow hunters, anglers, boaters and other outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy wildlife-associated recreation.

This position is responsible for planning and conducting sociological and economic impact studies to evaluate, analyze, and interpret:
• Constituents' views, attitudes, and values toward fisheries, wildlife management, and conservation;
• Constituents' views and attitudes toward the Agency's current and proposed fisheries, wildlife management, and conservation strategies;
• Economic benefits of fisheries, wildlife management, and conservation activities; and
• Sociological trends in hunting and fishing license sales.
The results of human dimensions and economic impact studies will increase the Commission's capacity to develop and/or adjust management strategies for the benefit of both wildlife and fisheries resources and the human population, plan strategies to communicate benefits of wildlife conservation, and plan strategies to market Commission activities. Through planning and conducting human dimensions studies and through coordination with Commission staff, the employee will develop and maintain partnerships with other agencies, wildlife conservation organizations, and individuals.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
The employee must be able to identify the need for individual human dimensions studies and recommend the appropriate quantitative and/or qualitative method(s) to use when designing the study. The employee must have extensive knowledge of social sciences and the scientific method. The employee must be able to design and conduct scientific surveys. The employee must have demonstrated knowledge of and be able to apply the appropriate statistical techniques to analyze scientific survey data. The employee must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to Commission staff, the public, sportsmen groups, and other constituencies. The employee must be able to facilitate focus groups, conduct interviews, and facilitate meetings. The employee must be able to prioritize program activities, plan and work independently and complete projects in an accurate and timely manner.
The employee must have demonstrated experience analyzing scientific survey data using appropriate statistical methods. The employee should have a good understanding of biology and natural resource management.
- Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in wildlife, fisheries, or natural resource management, zoology, biology, sociology, economics, or natural resource policy from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in human dimensions with a natural resource agency; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
