Thu, 02/09/2017 - 10:46am - Congratulations to Adam Fox, a Ph.D. student focusing on fisheries, who won Best Student Presentation at the Southern Division meeting of the American Fisheries Society recently.  Fox attended the meeting in Oklahoma City and made it the third straight year that a Warnell graduate student won Best Student Presentation.  Congrats, Adam!

Mon, 02/06/2017 - 01:35pm - Warnell's Dr. Kamal Gandhi and Gail Westcot, who is the director of the Mary Kahrs Warnell Education Center, were both honored recently for their contributions to forestry. Gandhi, associate professor of forest entomology, and Westcot were recognized at the annual meeting of the Southeastern Society of American Foresters in late January. Gandhi received the Research and Development Award, and Westcot won the Public Education and Technology Transfer Award. Both Gandhi and Westcot accepted their awards at the 2017 SESAF Annual Meeting in Florida.

Thu, 02/02/2017 - 09:29am - Dr. Scott Merkle has been recognized by the International Union of Forest Research Organizations for his research using somatic embryogenesis to propagate trees. IUFRO is a nonprofit network of forest scientists that promotes global cooperation in forest-related research. Its goal is to enhance the understanding of the ecological, economic and social aspects of forests and trees. Uniting more than 15,000 scientists in more than 110 countries, IUFRO also recognizes the outstanding research contributions of its members.
