You are a highly motivated Forester, who is passionate about managing timberlands through sustainable measures. You’re committed to both safety and environmental values, as well as getting results.  You enjoy collaborating with other geographical team members to develop the best plan for managing our forestry operations.  You are determined to find safe and cost-effective ways to deliver logs to a variety of external  customers.
We are a dedicated, resourceful team responsible for operational forest planning, harvest and haul operations, road construction, and silviculture. We also focus on two key areas – developing our people and delivering the most value from every acre.  
This position is part of Weyerhaeuser’s Moosehead District, based in Greenville, Maine, with a primary focus on managing the unit's 400,000 acres in the northern forest region of Maine.  This district is responsible for managing one of the nation's largest working forest Conservation Easements at 363,000 acres.  This region provides abundant four-season outdoor recreational opportunities while maintaining the unique character of working forests and farms. From Maine's famous fall foliage to the scenic Kennebec River Valley, you will be working in an area known for its beauty. Whether you enjoy hiking, skiing, boating, fishing, kayaking, snowmobiling or sightseeing, there are outdoor activities for everyone in Greenville and the Moosehead Lake Region
In this role, you will be a pivotal member of our Moosehead Timberlands team. You will assist with our operations by achieving or exceeding the goals and expectations set by the Northern Hardwoods leadership team. Daily tasks include harvest unit and road planning and layout, project administration, GIS updates, silviculture planning and layout (pre-commercial thinning, site prep and release and tree planting) among various other resource management related responsibilities.


  • Experience: Educational experience from an accredited forestry program; field experience preferred but not required for the right candidate who has demonstrated leadership and technical acumen as it relates to the forest industry.
  • Breadth: Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental values and results. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with team members and a diverse group of customers and stakeholders. Demonstrated leadership capabilities.  Attention to detail.

  • Technical Skills: ARC based GIS, GPS and experience with resource based management software/hardware technology
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry or Environmental Science or related Associate’s degree in Forestry coupled with a BS: Business
  • All foresters need to be either licensed in the State of Maine to practice forestry or have the means to apply and work towards a license.
