Post doctoral – Forest Pest Invasion Analysis and Modeling

The Department of Forestry and Natural Resources at Purdue University invites applications for a post- doctoral position on dynamics and impacts of invasive pests in forest ecosystems supported by an NSF macrosystems project. The postdoc will be jointly supervised by Dr. Songlin Fei at Purdue and Dr. Andrew Liebhold at USDA Forest Service.

Required Qualifications: We seek a highly motivated, well-organized person with strong quantitative skills to work on an interdisciplinary project that involves modeling of invasive species distributions and their impacts on forest ecosystems (e.g., carbon sequestration). Ideal candidates will excel in a fast- paced environment where the postdoctoral associated is given a leadership role of managing small groups of graduate students on tasks directed toward the development of an overarching modeling framework of invasive dynamics and impacts at subcontinental scales. A PhD in ecology, entomology, forestry, geography, or biology is required with expertise in modeling, big data analytics, and/or geospatial analysis. Experience with R programming, GIS, remote sensing and other analytical tools are highly desirable. Ability to work with researchers across a variety of disciplines is required.


Date of Appointment: January 2021

Duration of Appointment: Initial appointment is 12 months and will be renewed pending satisfactory performance and availability of funding

Purdue University will provide a $47,500 annual stipend plus health care benefits.
