Gary is responsible for leading all strategic and operational aspects of fiber supply and sales for International Paper’s Augusta, GA fiber procurement basin. Included in his responsibilities is leading a fiber procurement team of 20 employees that manage a $200 million annual spend to source several IP and outside customer pulp and paper facilities with wood, chips and fiber fuel. His responsibilities also include oversight of four (4) satellite chip mill and woodyard operations.
Gary is a native of Lexington, GA and graduated Cum Laude from the University of Georgia Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources in 1980 with a B.S. in Forest Resources. He is registered as a licensed professional forester in both Georgia and South Carolina. A 38-year veteran in the forest products industry, he has held numerous operations, technical, and leadership positions during his career and has worked and lived across the south. He has also worked on project assignments in western Canada and in Europe during his career with Champion International and IP. He also has wood products experience, and was Mill Manager for an IP lumber mill located in north Florida.
Gary currently serves on the Georgia Forestry Association’s Board of Directors, and is a past President of that organization.
Gary and his wife of 39 years, Alisa, live in Evans, GA. Gary enjoys travel, attending UGA football games, and spending time fishing for anything that swims. He is particularly fond of fly fishing for trout in beautiful places. Gary and Alisa have two adult children, Jason and Jamie, who both reside in Georgia.
