Trees Atlanta’s mission is to protect & improve Atlanta's urban environment by planting, conserving & educating. Trees Atlanta is a non-profit that has served Atlanta for 32 years in communities inside I-285 through tree planting, tree care, arboreta building, and forest restoration.
The Trees Atlanta Fall/Winter Intern Position is an opportunity for students or recent college graduates to gain experience working with an environmental non-profit organization. As an intern you will work assist with NeighborWoods project planning and volunteer coordination. Duties include writing our weekly volunteer email, leading tree maintenance and planting projects, communicating with neighbors, completing post-planting visits to the sites, entering volunteer data into Volgistics, and working with the tree database.
The schedule for this position is flexible, and will be 24 to 32 hours a week.
The ideal candidate will work well in a team, be self-motivated and enthusiastic, and enjoy working outdoors. Preferred majors include forestry, horticulture, environmental science, landscape design or related fields. Preference will also go to candidates who drive and can be covered by Trees Atlanta’s auto insurance policy. A basic knowledge of local and invasive plants and is important. A desire to learn and acquire new skills is essential. You must be 21 years and older to apply.
Length of internship: 5 months; August 15th, 2017 through January 16th, 2018
