The Maryland Natural Resources Police is a national leader in the field of conservation and boating law enforcement. The Natural Resources Police's mission is to protect Maryland's natural resources, public lands, waterways and people. The Natural Resources Police are looking to hire enthusiastic and motivated Officer Candidates. Examples of Duties: • Responds to calls relating to natural resource violations and emergencies • Responds to State Parks and enforces all public land laws and regulations • Primary enforcement agency patrolling the waterways of Maryland • Primary enforcement agency patrolling forested, agricultural, wetland, beach and mountainous areas • Provides a variety of other police duties including; traffic enforcement, criminal cases and public safety/outreach Selection Process & Supplemental Information: Possible applicants who have sent a letter of interest/resume and meet the State’s minimum qualifications will be contacted with official application information. The tentative opening date for applications will be announced on April 21st 2017 and be open for two weeks. Applicants must pass a Functional Fitness Assessment Test (FFAT) and a written exam before being placed on an eligibility list. The FFAT and written exam are scheduled to occur throughout the month of June. Upon successful completion of these hiring steps, the applicant may receive a Conditional Offer of Employment. A Conditional Offer of Employment will be followed up by a series of testing processes including; Polygraph and background investigation, medical and psychological examinations, and an oral interview. Upon successful completion of all hiring processes the Officer Candidate will attend a 30 week training academy, scheduled to start February 1st 2018.
Minimum Requirements: • Be a United States Citizen • Be at least 21 years old • Have a High School Diploma or GED • Have a valid driver's license from any state • Have 20/20 vision with or without corrective lenses • Be in excellent physical condition • Not illegally used any controlled dangerous substance within the last three years (including marijuana) • Not under a court order related to domestic violence
