This is a direct-hire recent graduate position. The candidate must be a person who was awarded a degree by an institution of higher education not more than two years before the date of the appointment of such person. The period of two years is extended to four years for those who have completed a period of obligated service in a uniformed service.
This position is located on Richard B. Russell Lake, approximately 18 miles southeast of Elberton, GA or 5 miles south of Calhoun Falls, SC.
The position serves as a Natural Resource Specialist as part of a multi-disciplinary team for Russell Lake. Duties entail a mission to manage and conserve natural resources, consistent with ecosystem principles, while providing quality sustainable public outdoor recreation experiences, contract administration, environmental stewardship and environmental compliance. Coordinates planning and execution of all activities related to one or more of the following programs: forestry, fisheries and wildlife, shoreline stabilization, pest control, soil conservation, boundary surveillance, recreation and park administration, shoreline management, contract administration, historic properties protection, public education and interpretation, visitor assistance and public safety.
