Job Description:

   Dr. Richard Cristan, Assistant Research Professor of Forestry in the College of Agriculture, Communities, and the Environment at Kentucky State University (KSU) is seeking a Masters of Science graduate research assistant with a strong interest in forestry, GIS/Technology, and drones. Dr. Cristan’s current research involves the use of drones and drone related technology in forestry, GIS, forest health (emerald ash borer impact and invasive species), water quality, habitat restoration (pollinator habitat), and forest recreation. He also has research interests in silviculture, forest operations, and agroforestry for potential avenues of projects. This project will involve the use of drones and GIS in relation to forestry. The student will need to be certified to fly drones (FAA Remote Pilot Certificate) or willing to take the exam to become certified (will be paid for). Dr. Cristan is looking to fill this position as soon as possible with start dates of either summer 2019 or fall 2019 semesters. Qualifications:

   1. Successful completion of an undergraduate degree (Bachelors of Science with focus in forestry, natural resources, environmental science, ecology, GIS, forest recreation, or a related field) with a 3.0 GPA 
    
   2. GRE Scores (required for admission) 
    
   3. TOEFL scores (Only required for international students from countries where English is not an official language) 

Miscellaneous:

   The assistantship is for $22,000/yr; however, there is no tuition waiver with the assistantship and the student would be responsible for paying tuition and fees each semester. Full-time graduate students are required to take 9 credit hours per semester (fall and spring) for a total of 36 credit hours in KSUs Masters of Science in Environmental Studies program (https://proxy.qualtrics.com/proxy/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fkysu.edu%2Facademi…;
