This position supports the partnering efforts from the Wetlands Program with other agencies, non-profit organizations, foundations, corporations, and private land owners. 40% manages and writes grants, especially North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) grants.
20% - Assists coordination with multiple partners outside of the agency to develop grant projects and partnership agreements. Serves as the primary contact for Wildlife field staff and other bureaus to coordinate wetland and waterfowl management grant activities.
20% - Works with the Bureau of Finance to obtain grant application approvals, track grant activities, and provide budget amendments. Assists with budget monitoring, invoicing, and compiling documentation for grant reporting.
10% - Coordinates with the WDNR Real Estate program on land acquisition efforts that are associated with grant activities.
10% - Seeks alternative funding opportunities for wetland restoration, enhancement and maintenance for local wetland managers and partners.
Knowledge of wetland ecology, wetland habitat restoration and management techniques. Knowledge of grant administration principles and practices. Familiar with basic accounting principles. Ability to perform detail oriented work and to manage multiple priorities. A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Wildlife Management, Biology or a related field. Previous experience using Microsoft Office Suite products. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, conservation partners, and the public.
