POSITION SUMMARY: The National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) is seeking qualified candidates for a term limited (3-yr minimum), full-time coordinator position overseeing hunting and shooting sports recruitment, retention and reactivation (R3) programs in the state of Wisconsin. This position is a cooperative effort between the NWTF and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR), and will conduct adaptive management for planning, coordinating and collaborating with various partner organizations, training, implementing, monitoring, and performing outreach related to hunting and fishing R3 programming in Wisconsin. The position will have statewide duties with a preferred living location in central Wisconsin. Other duties assigned as needed. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. 
    
   Essential Functions: 
    
   • Implement strategies found in the National Hunting and Shooting Sports Action Plan; the Best Practices Workbook for Hunting and Shooting Recruitment and Retention; the Recommendations and Strategic Tools for Effective Angler Recruitment, Retention and Reactivation (R3) Efforts; and Hunting, Fishing, Sport Shooting, and Archery Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation: A Practitioner’s Guide 
   • Assess the various gaps that exists in current programs to develop/coordinate clear and measurable pathways for hunting and fishing R3 in Wisconsin 
   • Develop tools for identifying potential participants in hunting and fishing outreach efforts 
   • Work closely with NWTF staff, NWTF volunteers, DNR staff, and other partners to create a framework for collaboration that provides the foundation for enhanced Implementation of R3 programs based on models of success 
   • Work in coordination with existing hunting and fishing R3 staff in Wisconsin to expand capacity for programs that fill gaps in R3 efforts 
   • Provide training in the North American Conservation Model with best practices for R3 and application of the Outdoor Recreation Adoption Model (ORAM) 
   • Help create and implement a program for mentor selection and development 
   • Expand and adapt the Learn to Hunt for Food and Fishing for Dinner programs 
   • Assist the NWTF-WI State Chapter with implementing the R3 strategic plan objectives within the “Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt.” program; specifically, coordinating and expanding mentored hunts 
   • Assist with various programs where applicable, including: NWTF and other partner education/outreach programs, expos, & mentored hunts 
   • Coordinate efforts to reengage lapsed hunters 
   • Assess the effectiveness of existing and new R3 programs through participant tracking and surveys 
   • Adapt programming and share new information to ensure program success 
   • Submit press releases through partner media outlets to publicize the partnership and any hunting/fishing R3 programs 
   • Develop/edit R3-related programming materials like brochures, booklets, video productions, digital, social media, and/or radio public service announcements 
   • Seek additional funding to support program implementation

Qualifications:

Qualifications: 
   • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in an science-related natural resources field, education, or communications 
   • Experience in performing above or similar duties 
   • An understanding of Wisconsin conservation organizations, hunting, fishing and shooting sports, and local & national hunting and shooting sports R3 partnership efforts 
   • Understanding of the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation 
   • Ability to work irregular schedules including some weekends, evenings and overnight stays 
   • Excellent communication and organization skills 
   • Ability to work with limited supervision, self-motivated and able to motivate others 
   • Able to work with diverse audiences 
   • Experience preferred in administering and coordinating outdoor skills training, partnership development and support, and volunteer management 
   • Knowledge of current R3 efforts both locally and Nationally 
   • Ability to think and act both creatively and strategically to further hunting and fishing R3 efforts 
   • Experience with strategic planning and leading diverse stakeholder groups in planning efforts
