Under general supervision, designs and manages research and survey projects and public waters management activities designed to protect, evaluate, and improve fish habitat and sport fisheries of streams. Provides technical fisheries management assistance to individuals, corporations and government agencies. Conducts statistical analysis and modeling to support program goals and objectives. Administers purchasing, budgeting, inventory control and report preparation. Position requires frequent statewide travel.
Master of Science degree in Fisheries Management, Fisheries Biology, Fisheries Science or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Experience using statistical software (e.g. R, SAS)
- Experience sampling fishes with electrofishing and other methods in a wide variety of stream types
- Experience operation GIS software (e.g. ArcGIS)
- Experience identifying fish in the Southeastern US
