This is an entry level position for a new graduate interested in getting experience in habitat restoration practice. The candidate will assist management in all aspects of work including administrative tasks, planning, logistics, and execution of restoration tasks. Our home base is in Atlanta, Georgia, but our projects are located throughout north Georgia and surrounding states.
Rock Spring provides services and materials for habitat restoration projects in the southeastern United States. We specialize in local ecotype grasses, wildflowers, and certain woody species. We work to enhance habitat for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife.
Minimum Skills: The ideal candidate will have excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Google docs, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Earth. He / she must have good interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a pro-active stance on tasks. The candidate must be able to multitask and shift priorities and objectives rapidly. The candidate must be physically fit -- able to work in harsh conditions, carry heavy loads, walk long distances, etc. The work is not suited to persons with allergic conditions or fear of wildlife. The work is not suited to persons who cannot work in remote locations. Our work schedule is variable and fluctuates both with the seasons and adverse weather. The candidate must be able to work flexible hours.
The candidate must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation (preferably a pickup truck), insurance, computer and cellphone.
