: The student will gain valuable professional experience by assisting Town staff with the Town’s erosion control compliance and environmental programs. Duties include, but are not limited to: construction plan review, field verification for streams & wetlands, erosion control compliance inspections & enforcement actions, site assessments throughout all phases of construction activity, environmental watershed health outreach and education to local schools and groups, database management & documentation organization, Adopt a Stream & Rivers Alive programs, and other duties as assigned.
Flexible schedule options, student can coordinate schedule availability with Town staff.
Student needs to complete (determined by school) X hours of work during the designated term to earn academic credit. Consult with University advisor for more information.
Student’s class level (all considered). Candidates must possess adequate writing and communication skills, a general knowledge of computer applications such as Windows and Office 365. Preference will be given to students with general knowledge of watershed health concerns, to include non-point source pollutants, 303 D listed streams, Georgia Erosion Control Act, MS 4 regulations, GIS mapping experience. (Lack of this knowledge will not be an eliminating factor). Student should have a willingness and ability to conduct field work in variety of weather conditions. Position will require adequate clothing suitable for field work to include work boots. A drug test, motor vehicle history & background check will be required.
