Warnell holds Spring graduation ceremonies

The Warnell School held its annual spring graduation ceremony on Friday, May 11. Dozens of students received their bachelor's degrees, master's degrees and Ph.D.s during the ceremony.

Warnell, Odom students use crowd funding in SciFund Challenge

Two University of Georgia doctoral students are participating in the second round of the SciFund Challenge, an experiment in crowd funding for scientific research. Alyssa Gehman, in the Odum School of Ecology, and Sean Sterrett, in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, are raising money from individuals to fund their research.

Sean Sterrett is a PhD student at the Warnell School who is interested in studying why conserving freshwater turtle populations is important from an ecological perspective. He is launching his PhD research on May 1 in a relatively new scientific crowdfunding venture called the #SciFund Challenge.

The Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources held its annual Spring Awards Banquet last week to recognize a new crop of scholarship and award winners. Dozens of students attended the banquet and met with scholarship representatives and the donors who fund the education assistance.
