Assistant/Associate Professor of Wood Quality/Forest Products

Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Wood Quality/Forest Products. This is a full time, tenure-track, 12-month, 75% research, 25% teaching appointment. This position reports directly to the Dean of the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources (WSFNR). We seek a wood scientist with research interests in developing technologies to understand, measure, and manage wood quality from managed forests.

UGA/Warnell Center develops invasive species tracking app

The Everglades National Park has released a much expanded mobile app for tracking invasive exotics in Florida. The “IveGot1” app was developed by Park and University of Georgia researchers for the popular iPhone to identify and report invasive plants and animals spotted in Florida.

From forest to fuel tank: UGA researchers develop ‘super’ yeast that turns pine into ethanol

Researchers at the University of Georgia have developed a “super strain” of yeast that can efficiently ferment ethanol from pretreated pine—one of the most common species of trees in Georgia and the U.S. Their research could help biofuels replace gasoline as a transportation fuel. Warnell’s Dr. Dale Greene offers his insight into this research.
