Wildlife conclave team takes home top spot

March 30, 2009

The UGA chapter of The Wildlife Society took home top honors at the Southeastern Wildlife Conclave this past weekend.

Associate Professor Steven Castleberry shared this about the competition:

The Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society once again stole the show at the Southeastern Wildlife Conclave this weekend.  The conclave was held at the Arkansas 4-H Center near Little Rock and was co-hosted by the University of Arkansas-Monticello and Arkansas Tech.  UGA was one of 20 schools that competed.  For the fourth consecutive time the chapter has competed, UGA was the Overall Conclave Winner and Quiz Bowl champion.  For the third time in the last four years, UGA won the Team Field Competition.  We also had several other individuals and teams win skill and creative competitions.

Winners:

  • Quiz Bowl, 1st place – Justin Davis, Hayden Martin, Tara Thomson, Mallory Cronic, and Andrew Taylor
  • Radiotelemetry, 1st place – Mallory Cronic and Jay Scott
  • Team competition, 1st place – Everyone (Justin Davis, Hayden Martin, Mallory Cronic, Tara Thomson, Andrew Taylor, Meredith Moeggenberg, Elizabeth Miller, Theron Menken, Andrew Brannon, Mike Cherry, Will Ricks, Meg Williams, Brianne Lapierre, Robert Horan, Micah Hollis, Katie Moore, Megan Carter, Marissa Cent, Laci Coleman, Jay Scott, Graham Marsh, Drew Ruttinger)

I cannot say enough about the professionalism the students exhibited and how well they represented Warnell.  The Warnell community has reason to be very proud.  Please take time to congratulate these students on their success.
