How do I make a personal web site using my free server space at UGA?

Every student, staff and faculty member of UGA has access to server space in order to store files or to host a web site . MyWeb is the space for your web site , and MyDrive is space to store files.

You must have a UGA account with a username (UGA MyID) and password to use this service. You must also comply with applicable UGA Computer Use Policies.

1. Build your site using your favorite editor such as Dreamweaver, saving the files onto your computer.
2. Log into the MyUGA page using your UGA MyID and password. (These are the same ones as your email).
3. Click MyDrive/MyWeb in the navigation on the left.
4. Click the Home@UGA link under Folders in the MyDrive/MyWeb window. This is the folder to put files in that you don't need on the web.
5. Click the www link under Home@UGA. This is the folder to put your web site files in.
6. Click on File in the right hand pane under Location: /NetStorage/Home@UGA/www and choose Upload.
7. Navigate to your web site files on your computer, and click Upload. (You can only choose one file at a time, but may combine many files into one upload.)
8. Once you have all the files uploaded, go to http://myid/myweb.uga.edu (where "myid" is your UGA MyID) to see your site. If you get an error saying "Forbidden", you do not have a file named "index.html" or "home.html" in your site.
