Students - Undergraduate Advisement and Registration

Student Responsibility

The student is responsible for the completion of their degree program.

The Advisement Process

All students at the University of Georgia must be advised before they can register. Pre-professional students are advised by the Undergraduate Academic Advisor. It is the student's responsibility to make an appointment with the Advisor. The Academic Advisor usually has a sign-up sheet posted outside of his door for appointments to be made. You may see the Academic Advisor without an appointment if you have an emergency or a quick question.

After a student is advised, they may still not be able to register. Usually this is because the student's registration appointment has not come to pass. The Academic Advisor should inform you of the registration appointment time when you are advised. Also, a student might be flagged by a department on campus for various reasons. If OASIS alerts you that you are flagged, call the number provided for information on how to remove the flag.

Professional students are advised by the faculty advisor assigned to them at Professional Orientation. It is the student's responsibility to contact their faculty advisor to make an advising appointment. Please see the Faculty Directory for your faculty advisor's contact information.

If a Professional student wishes to change their faculty advisor, they should speak to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

Professional students should see the Undergraduate Academic Advisor after they see their faculty advisor in the term before the term they intend to graduate for a Graduation Check.

Withdrawal from Courses

Students may withdraw from a course at any time they are enrolled in that course; however, there are different penalties for when you withdraw. Below is the Uniform Grading Policy for Withdrawals
