On Wednesday, August 11th, the class was hosted by Scofield Timber Company, an award-winning wood supply organization that has built an enviable reputation for practicing sustainable forestry in ways that are attractive to the public near metropolitan areas. The class posed for a photo (above) with Scott Teverino (BSFR '94), front left during a stop on the Atlanta Steeplechase properties north of Cartersville.

Other stops during the week included Georgia Tech's Advanced Wood Products Lab in Atlanta, Georgia-Pacific's Wood and Fiber Supply offices in Atlanta, Rayonier's small-log sawmill in Eatonton, Southern Select Forest Products in Newnan, and T&S Hardwoods' lumber mill in Milledgeville. Students also visited forest biotechnology firm CellFor in Atlanta and timberland investment management organizations Regions Morgan Keegan, Forest Investment Associates, and TimberVest. They also met with representatives of F&W Forestry Services and the Forest Landowners Association.

Students interested in participating in the Fall 2005 Forest Operations Study Tour or companies interesting in being a host for the class should contact Bob Izlar or Dale Greene.
