Dr. Sarah Covert, professor of forest biotechnology at UGA’s Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources is one of the many scientists who participated in the Department of Energy Joint Genome Initiative (DOE JGI) analyzing the first complete DNA sequence (genome) of a tree. The report on this research project is the cover feature in the September 15, 2006 edition of the journal Science.
