The University of Georgia’s Daniel B. Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources recognized and rewarded its many outstanding students, student-teachers, and professors at its 75th Annual Spring Awards Banquet held Thursday, April 20th at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education in Athens, GA.
Thirty-three scholarships and awards were presented to 46 students, two graduate teaching awards were presented to four graduate students, and four outstanding teaching awards were presented to four separate professors at the banquet.
“We look forward to this opportunity each year to recognize the efforts and achievements of those students and professors who make the Warnell School one of the most respected forestry and natural resource school’s in the nation,” Warnell School Dean Richard Porterfield sincerely expressed. “We are fortunate to have some of the best performing students at the University of Georgia matriculating at the Warnell School and thankful for the tremendously dedicated faculty who have devoted their lives to improving the future opportunities for the School’s students.”
In addition to recognizing the outstanding students and faculty of the Warnell School, the Spring Awards Banquet allows the students and faculty to thank the School’s alumni, friends and industry leaders who provide the financial support for many of the scholarships and awards presented at the banquet.
“First and foremost the entire Warnell School family would like to take this opportunity to give our thanks and appreciation to all of the School’s supporters whose generous gifts provide increased opportunities for students to conduct research, write papers, and present their findings at professional conferences around the world,” stated Dean Porterfield. “It is the tremendous support that is provided to the Warnell School by its ever growing number of alumni and industry friends that make it such a wonderful place for us to work, and for our students to build their future.”
Roughly $30,000 in awards and scholarships were provided to those students recognized at the Spring Awards Banquet thanks to the generosity of the Warnell School’s family and friends.
