Two Warnell School faculty members have published new books this past month.

Karl V. Miller, professor of Wildlife Ecology and Management, released his latest book, Quality Food Plots: Your Guide to Better Deer and Better Deer Hunting, which was published by the Quality Deer Management Association in September.

Miller co-edited this book with Kent Kammermeyer, 30-year wildlife biologist with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Warnell School alumnus, and Lindsay Thomas, Jr., Director of Publications for the Quality Deer Management Association and former editor of Georgia Outdoors News magazine.

The book is available on the QDMA website at www.qdma.com for $34.95, plus shipping and handling.

Brooks C. Mendell, adjunct professor and principal of Forisk Consulting, has also written a new book, Loving Trees is Not Enough: Communication Skills for Natural Resource Professionals, which was published by Aventine Press and released in September.

“The book introduces and reinforces fundamental communications skills for anyone pursuing a career in natural resources,” Mendell says. “Specifically, it addresses public speaking, job interviews, salary negotiations, managing meetings, giving feedback, and using electronic communications such as phones, cell phones, and email.”

He will be teaching the FORS5930 Communication Skills for Natural Resource Professionals spring semester for the fifth year running, and will use this as one of the textbooks for the class.

The book is available on Amazon.com and at Barnes & Noble bookstores for $11.50.
