Warnell School welcomes new faculty to Water Resources program
The faculty and administration of the Daniel B. Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources is pleased to announce that Rebecca Moore, Ph.D. has accepted an offer to fill the Assistant Professor in Water Resources faculty position. Dr. Moore began her new duties on July 1, 2006.
Previously a research assistant in the area of Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Moore will fill the resource economics position vacated by Dr. David Newman when he accepted the position as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. Where Dr. Newman’s focus was forest economics, Moore’s focus is related more toward water economics.
Dr. Moore’s publication and presentation experience include articles in Environmental and Resources Economics (2006), Agricultural and Resources Economics Review (2006), and Proceedings from 2005 Western Regional Research Project W-1133; and presentations at the Northeastern Agricultural and Resource Economics Association workshop on Invasive Species (2005), the American Agricultural Economics Association annual meeting (2004), and the University of Colorado Environmental and Resource Economics workshop (2002).
Dr. Moore received her Ph.D. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with special focus on environmental and natural resource economics, econometrics, and dynamic programming. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Geology, with a minor in Economics, from the University of Colorado-Boulder.
“We are very pleased Dr. Moore has agreed to join the faculty here at the Warnell School,” said Dean Richard Porterfield. “Her experience learning resource economics from some of the top professionals in the field at the University of Wisconsin-Madison will be a tremendous asset as we fill the vacancy left by the promotion of Associate Dean Newman.”
“Rebecca has the talent and capability to address the economics of the use of all natural resources coming from the forest resource," he concluded.
