Warnell School, UGA Community shows its generosity

Document Actions
The faculty, staff, students and administration of the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources would like to thank all members of the Warnell School, and UGA community, who donated badly needed food, hygiene and medicinal items for the roughly 1,300 firefighters battling Georgia’s largest ever recorded wildfires.

Transporting all of the items donated by the UGA community to the Georgia Forestry Association headquarters required a super-size SUV and full-size station wagon filled almost to capacity.

“We know the Warnell School and UGA community is a very generous group,” Warnell School Interim Dean Bob Warren said, “but we are amazed by how many individuals, and units, that took the time to purchase these donations and deliver them to the Warnell School.”

“We can not thank the UGA community enough for their tremendous generosity, and hope all who donated items recognize how grateful the firefighters will be once the donations arrive on the fire lines on June 5.”

The Warnell School firefighter donation campaign is a vital part of the statewide donation campaign being coordinated by the Georgia Forestry Association.

Special thanks to The Graduate School, UGA Science Library, Complex Carbohydrate Research Center and family of former Warnell School Dean Leon A. Hargreaves, Jr. for their extra effort in obtaining donations.
